About the Event
In its 8th year, the Summit of the Southeast will convene top industry leaders to share case studies, best practices and actionable next steps to help you face daily challenges and manage emerging technology solutions. This Summit gives you access to the industry’s leading minds and most innovative health IT professionals, clinicians, and entrepreneurs with two days of education and professional networking. Nashville was built on a foundation of music — the common thread connecting the life and soul of the city and its people. Most visitors venture to Music City to immerse themselves in that culture. But behind the rhinestones and showbiz is Nashville’s true leading industry — health care. The city is known as the nation’s health care hub, housing a swarm of large health care employers, making it the perfect setting to host the 2016 Summit of the Southeast which draws nearly a thousand attendees each year.
In addition to the Summit of the Southeast, new this year TN HIMSS is co-sponsoring the HERe Women’s Leadership Conference with the Tennessee Chapter of HFMA on September 13th. This conference is an excellent opportunity to connect with some of the amazing women who shape healthcare in Nashville, throughout Tennessee, and nationally. It is a great opportunity to connect, engage, and inspire.
Also new this year, on Sept 13th TN HIMSS is co-hosting the kickoff of the 1st Annual Most Influential Women in Health IT Awards Reception with national HIMSS at the Nashville Music City Center.
On September 14th and 15th, TNHIMSS will launch it’ s innovations day sessions – “TNOVATION”. Leading the initiative for the chapter is TNHIMSS past president, Connie McGee and a partnership with LaunchTN bringing the entrepreneurial community to the annual Summit of the Southeast.
The TNOVATION Sessions will consist of C-Suite panelists throughout the healthcare eco-system including community leaders, healthcare corporations, and investment companies. The TNOVATION initiative will allow the opportunity for “early stage” and “growth stage” companies to introduce their company portfolio to decision makers from various healthcare corporations, and companies throughout the state of TN. It presents an opportunity to align our innovative community with the healthcare community and allowing entrepreneurial companies an opportunity to present and elevate themselves throughout the State of Tennessee.

“I enjoyed the personalized medicine and patient engagement sessions. Sometimes in our field it is easy to forget that there is a person/patient that is impacted by the decisions that we are making.”
“I wish more of my team had attended; there was a lot of valuable information about the state of healthcare and patient engagement, it wasn’t necessarily for a technical audience. I appreciated that.”
“Michael Burcham helped me to honestly and clearly understand where the industry is going, which is very valuable to my career and planning my time line.”
“As a clinician, I found Julie Luengas’ and Dave deBronkart’s presentations the most valuable. I think it is very important to engage clinicians at this conference as well because we are also a crucial component of the HIT workforce.”
“Dave deBronkart gave one of the best presentations I have ever seen! His energy and enthusiasm was contagious and he was able to apply a real life scenario to a problem. Not only the problem, but present suggestions and next steps for a solution.”
