Dr. Heather Bassett


Dr. Heather Bassett is the Chief Medical Officer at XSOLIS, a healthcare technology company that integrates clinical data from disparate sources throughout the hospital and applies real time analytics to facilitate proactive medical necessity and level of care decisions. Dr. Bassett received her undergraduate degree from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh PA in 1993. Her career started in basic science research in the field of DNA Repair which yielded multiple publications and speaking engagements. Dr. Bassett went on to complete her Medical Degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston TX in 2005. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Vanderbilt Medical Center, Nashville TN in 2008 and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. She then went on to work as a Hospitalist at Centennial Medical Center, Nashville TN before joining the XSOLIS team in 2013.

Opportunities to Leverage Real-Time Data Analytics to Improve Patient Care Strategies

The forced migration from paper records to electronic health records has made a huge impact to the continuum of care. The readily available mass amounts of data are providing opportunities to leverage real time data analytics to improve patient care strategies. Pre-defined algorithms have the power to analyze data from disparate data sources providing guidelines to clinical staff who can take advantage of a holistic view of a patient’s status. Much of the data necessary to determine the two components of medical necessity, severity of illness and intensity of service, can now be captured in discrete elements. Dr. Heather Bassett, will dive into where real time analytics are improving patient throughput while increasing patient satisfaction of care.
